Job Description – General Manager

In the General Manager role, you will be responsible for leading and managing all daily restaurant operations with a focus on product quality, increasing sales, and delivering a superior guest experience. You will oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, P&L, audits, reporting, and inventory. This position also includes recruiting, hiring, and training both management and team members. In addition, you will ensure adherence to food quality standards and safety and security procedures and communicate all policies and requirements. The General Manager will have a critical role directly responsible for all aspects of the restaurant’s performance and guest experience.


  • Establishes relationships within the community that will foster opportunities for sales building and the recruitment of team members.
  • Manages daily restaurant operations with a focus on flawless execution, increasing profit, and enhancing the guest experience.
  • Understands and executes an action plan to achieve goals.
  • Builds and leads strong teams, including recruiting, hiring, team member development, engagement, and retention.
  • Interacts with a diverse population of guests and team members, ensuring superb guest service.
  • Oversees and ensures that restaurant policies on team member performance appraisals are followed and completed on a timely basis.
  • Utilizes POS and cash handling expertise in the restaurant setting.
  • Has a complete understanding of financials, including P&L, budgets, forecasting, reporting, inventory, and food and labor costs.
  • Uses a guest-focused approach and the desire to provide excellent guest service.
  • Has experience with strategies that drive sales while controlling costs.
  • Upholds compliance with all employment policies.
  • Directs the work of the entire team, including setting weekly schedules and assigning areas of responsibility to the team members of the restaurant.
  • Manages the performance of the entire team, including conducting weekly meetings, performance evaluations, training, coaching, and discipline.
  • Reviews applications, interviews, and hires supervisors and hourly team members.
  • Schedules, delivers, and maintains certifications for management and team members in food safety, hygiene, and alcohol service and provides oversight of compliance with all applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, and standards.
  • Provides the ultimate oversight over all food, labor, equipment, and facility costs.
  • Manages weekly and monthly P&L.
  • Plans, prepares, and oversees weekly, monthly, and yearly inventories and budgets.
  • Verifies that audit, daily taste and temp, and training standards are maintained.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment to ensure its condition and food quality is up to standard.
  • Oversees and maintains the cleanliness and condition of the restaurant up to standard.
  • Enforces appropriate security measures at the restaurant so that the safety of our team members and guests is always maintained.
  • Oversees incentive programs for team members.
  • Oversees the development of key team members, including training in employment policies and practices.
  • Understands, manages, and practices safe food handling procedures.
  • Acts as primary liaison with all restaurant vendors and support center contacts.
  • Attends regular meetings as required.

Physical Requirements

  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
  • In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking for 6-8 hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to temperatures less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit and more than 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.


  • Undergraduate degree is a plus


  • 2-5 years minimum work experience in a restaurant leadership role preferred.
